Kingston Road Parklet

To support the hospitality sector recover from Covid-19 restrictions, Merton Council is supporting business who wish to extend seating areas onto the public highway. In many cases, this includes pavement licences for tables and chairs on the footway.

We are also working with businesses across Merton, supported by Government grants to introduce parklets in some locations to provide additional seating capacity. Parklets are temporary wooden structures and planters which provide additional space for outside seating.

Parklets are not only part of the Council's commitment to supporting economic recovery, they also contribute to improved air quality, vibrancy and sense of place as well as reducing vehicle dominance in the street scene. 

Kingston Road parklet is one of eight parklets being delivered across the borough. It will be located on the existing turfed area and provide additional seating and planting. This parklet does not require an Experimental Traffic Order. The consultation will be open for 6 months. Please use the online form below.

ollowing the feedback obtained from the consultation, we will be formalising the following parklets:

• Kings Road, outside of The Old Frizzle
• Coombe Lane, outside Lime and Thyme
• Quicks Road, outside Bonjour Brioche and XO Chocolate
• Merton High Street, outside Cedar
• Abbotsbury Road, near London Road junction

The following two parklets will be relocated:

• The Rush, along Merton Parade
• Merton High Street, outside Merton Café & Wine
