Merton Council

Commonside East Low Traffic Neighbourhood Review

Description:

In September 2020 the Council introduced a Low Traffic neighbourhood scheme on Commonside East under an Experimental Order. The 6-months statutory consultation closed in March 2021 and we are currently considering all the feedback received.

It is appreciated that some residents had concerns and some reservations when the LTN was first introduced particularly during the settling down period, but it is hoped that despite some minor inconvenience to some residents, many of you have come to enjoy and acknowledge the benefits. Some concerns were also raised regarding access for emergency services and the routine vandalism which has been resolved by the installation of an ANPR camera.

Before making a final decision, it has been agreed to undertake a review of the scheme. As part of this review, we are asking you to submit your views to a simple on-line questionnaire.

Summary of results:

After careful consideration of all the feedback received during the statutory consultation and the questionnaire, it has been agreed to make the experimental LTN in Commonside East permanent. The permanent Order will be advertised on 28 October 2021 and will come into effect on 8 November 2021. Details can be found in the Cabinet Member report.
