Merton Council

Consultation on Dog Control Public Space Protection Orders, 2017

Description:

Residents and park users have told us they are concerned about growing numbers of dog-related problems in public spaces, such a dog fouling and aggressive dogs. We are committed to tackling these issues and, as such, the Council is considering making Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs).

PSPOs are a new measure which would replace some existing legislation and introduce wider discretionary powers to deal with dog-related problems. The orders can be enforced by fixed-penalty notices and prosecution.

You can tell us what you think about dog control in the borough and about the PSPOs that we are considering by filling in our survey.
