Merton Council

Housing Delivery in Merton

Description:

The London Plan, prepared by the Mayor of London, requires Merton to increase its housing delivery from 411 homes every year to 918 every year, up until 2029.

We need to consider how to meet the requirement for new homes in Merton. Your feedback on key issues is important to us. Please tell us what matters to you about housing delivery in Merton.

The engagement is not part of a statutory planning process but the findings will feed into the Local Plan in the future. You can read about the Local Plan and its timescales here.

The consultation will last for 8 weeks.

Summary of results:

Housing Delivery Strategy 2022-27

Merton’s Housing Delivery Strategy 2022-27 considers the need for new homes in Merton and the mechanisms through which they might be delivered, with an emphasis on the need for new affordable homes.

Drawing on views expressed at public consultation in workshops, conversations with groups and individuals across the council and externally and on a range of evidence in relation to housing supply and demand, it identifies specific actions that are most relevant to and with the best prospect of success in Merton.

This is an overarching strategy with a focus on securing housing growth and is intended to complement a wider group of policies and strategies, in particular Merton’s Local Plan and Merton’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.
