Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy

Description: 

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy sets out the Council’s equality objectives and outlines how we will embed equalities considerations into our day-to-day business. Under the Equality Act 2010 the Council has a Public Sector Equality Duty to ensure that in exercising our functions and delivering services and partnership work we:

  • eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation
  • advance equality of opportunity between persons who share a protected characteristic and persons who do not share a protected characteristic
  • foster good relations between persons who share a relevant protected characteristic and persons who do not share it.

The draft Strategy has been designed to cover the period from January 2024 through to March 2026. Please read the dtaft strategy and then help us by sharing your views on the document by Monday 13 November.
