Merton Council

Healthy Streets and Vision Zero - Improvements to Streatham Road

Description:

Merton Council has secured TfL funding to deliver a number of improvements along Streatham Road under Healthy Streets and Vision Zero. The proposed measures along the entire length of Streatham Road within the borough include new cycle infrastructure in the form of a combination of segregated stepped cycle lanes, mandatory and advisory cycle tracks; upgrading of pedestrian crossings; new zebra crossings; parking restrictions;  junction improvements and bus stop upgrades.

Due to the extent of the proposed measures, the project will be progressed in phases depending on available funding over the next year, possibly two.

Summary of results:

All representations were reported to the Cabinet Member for a final decision. After careful consideration, they have decided to implement the proposed phase 1 measures and proceed with the required statutory consultation on the phase 2 measures.
